Offenbach specialty chemicals expert continues to expand with its own branch in Mumbai
As part of its global expansion, the German Bodo Möller Chemie Group has opened a new sales and consultancy branch in the Indian capital of Mumbai. Under the leadership of Managing Director Lionel Breuilly, sales teams will work out of Delhi, Calcutta and Chennai, as well as the site in Mumbai. This expansion into India is part of Bodo Möller Chemie Group’s comprehensive distribution business for Huntsman Advanced Materials, focusing primarily on adhesives, composites and products for the electronics sector for the Indian market. "For us, it is not just about distribution but, above all, about being able to provide a local consultancy service to our customers," says Frank Haug, Chairman and CEO of Bodo Möller Chemie GmbH, explaining this worldwide expansion strategy. Over the last few years, the specialty chemicals company has strengthened its presence in Eastern Europe in particular, but also in the Middle East and China. As part of the strategy to open up the Indian market, it plans to build up the product portfolio and to open additional sales offices in other parts of the country.
Huge market potential
With a population of more than 1.2 billion, India is by far the largest democracy in the world and, after China, which has a population of 1.3 billion, it is the second most highly populated country on earth. Experts consider India to be one of the ten largest national economies in the world. The Indian economy is becoming increasingly involved in the global division of labour, making it an ideal match for Bodo Möller Chemie Group’s orientation towards comprehensive process support, right through from prototyping to serial production. For this, the company relies on industry specialists with local market knowledge. "Not only is India a huge market but it also has a long history of good economic relations with Europe. We want to offer our technical know-how for targeted inclusion in current developments in this market, in order to exploit existing customer potential," says Haug on the founding of the Indian subsidiary. In addition to its sales and distribution business, Bodo Möller Chemie Group will also be offering its application-oriented technical support services in India. These include technical consultancy, customised application tests, a demand-based repackaging service and individual product formulations. The company sees itself as a provider of customer solutions, tailor-made to suit the respective needs and markets.
